Indonesia’s safeguard measures on imported yarns have been reviewed and finalized
On August 12, 2022, the WTO Safeguards Committee released the safeguard notification submitted to it by the Indonesian delegation on August 11, 2022. The Indonesian Safeguards Measures Committee made the first sunset review and final ruling on imported synthetic fiber yarns and man-made staple fiber yarns (except sewing threads) (Yarn (Other Than Sewing Thread) of Synthetic and Artificial Staple Fibers). It is recommended that starting from 2022 From November 9, 2020, a safeguard tax will continue to be levied on imported yarn for a period of three years (see the attached table for details of the tax amount). The Indonesian tax numbers of the products involved are 5509.22.00, 5509.32.00, 5509.51.00, 5509.53.00, 5510.12.00, and 5510.90.00.
The case consultation is expected to be conducted before September 2, 2022. Stakeholders should submit paper and electronic consultation applications within 7 days of the announcement.

On September 18, 2019, Indonesia imposed restrictions on imported synthetic fiber yarns and man-made staple fiber yarns (except sewing threads). ) initiates a safeguard investigation. On November 9, 2019, Indonesia implemented a 200-day temporary safeguard measure on the imported products involved. On May 27, 2020, Indonesia officially implemented safeguard measures for the products involved, which will be valid until November 8, 2022. On April 25, 2022, at the request of Indonesian domestic manufacturers, the Indonesian Safeguards Committee launched the first sunset review investigation of safeguard measures on the imported products involved.
