The Mumbai market has also noticed the upward trend in cotton yarn prices, with mills and traders trying to keep prices up by tightening supplies and sales. Traders said textile mills and traders are selling limited quantities of yarn due to increased demand. Therefore, cotton yarn prices increased by Rs 3-5 per kg last week. A broker said there will be better demand in the coming weeks, which will support yarn prices. The 60-count slub warp and weft yarns were traded at Rs 1,925-1,975 and Rs 1,825-1,870 per 5 kg. 80 count woolen weft yarn is priced at Rs 1,780-1,800 per 4.5 kg. The price of 44/46 count woolen warp yarn is 365-375 rupees per kilogram. 40/41 count woolen warp yarn is sold at Rs 345-350 per kg. The price of 40/41 count worsted warp yarn is 410-440 rupees per kilogram.

In Kupang, cotton prices soared further. Cotton mills are least interested in buying cotton when prices rise, and according to traders, prices are rising despite limited cotton purchases. Cotton prices have increased by Rs 4,000-5,000 per candy (356 kg) since last week. In the Kupang spot market, cotton is trading at 92,000-100,000 rupees per kandy.
