South Africa publishes guidance on trade description requirements for clothing, textiles, footwear and leather goods
On June 28, 2022, the South African National Consumer Council (NCC), in accordance with section 96(b)(i) of the Consumer Protection Act 2008, targeted clothing and textiles. Importers of shoes, shoes and leather goods have issued a guide on trade description requirements. The guidelines require that imported products should be accompanied by the following trade description information:
(1) Place of origin;
(2) Care label;
(3) Fiber content;
(4) If the goods have been Be refurbished, transformed, rebuilt or remade, clearly indicating that the goods have been renovated, renovated, rebuilt or remade;
(5) Product description must comply with ” Section 22 of the Consumer Protection Act states that it must be written in ordinary language (not a foreign language).
