Cambodia determines to increase minimum wage for garment workers
Cambodian garment, footwear and textile workers agreed to raise the minimum wage after consultations. After months of negotiations between labor unions, the government, and garment factory owners, Cambodia’s minimum wage will be raised to US$200 per month, an increase of US$6.
Cambodian unions originally wanted the minimum wage to be raised to US$215, but factory employers suggested keeping it at US$194.

In late September this year, the Garment Manufacturing Association of Cambodia (GMAC) confirmed an increase in the minimum wage, which will take effect in January 2023.
According to reports, Kaing Monika, deputy secretary-general of the Garment Manufacturing Association of Cambodia (GMAC), said that in view of the unstable global situation and the possibility of economic downturn, the organization has no expectations for Cambodia in the second half of the year.
