-Cambodian garment exports increased by .% year-on-year to US$.1 billion
According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cambodia, from January to October 2022, the country’s clothing exports increased by 18.5% compared with the same period in 2021, reaching US$7.75 billion, accounting for the country’s total exports during the same period. Foreign income accounted for 41.3% of the US$18.75 billion.
Cambodia’s exports of clothing and apparel accessories (knitted) from January to October 2022 were US$5.51 billion, an increase of 16% from US$4.75 billion in the same period in 2021. Exports of clothing and clothing accessories (non-knitwear) increased by 25.1% to US$2.23 billion, with exports in 2021 reaching US$1.79 billion.
However, Cambodia’s exports experienced negative growth in October 2022, indicating sluggish global market demand. The export value of knitted clothing and clothing accessories fell by 24.2% to US$400 million from US$530 million in the same period last year; the export value of non-knitted clothing fell by 4.3% to US$170 million.
In terms of imports, the country’s imports of knitted or crocheted fabrics from January to October 2022 were US$2.55 billion, an increase of 4.6% from US$2.43 billion in the same period in 2021. Imports of man-made fibers increased by 12.7% to US$1.01 billion, compared with US$890 million in the same period in 2021. Cotton imports fell 1.4% to US$420 million, compared with US$430 million in the same period in 2021.
