Polyester-cotton yarn prices fall in northern India, while cotton prices remain stable

Foreign news on June 21 was that due to weak demand, especially in Ludhiana, the price of polyester-cotton (PC) yarn in India fell. On the contrary, affected by the recent price increase of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), polyester spinning prices have increased due to rising raw material costs. Yarn trends were mixed, with prices for various yarns remaining stable despite weak demand.

Polyester-cotton (PC) yarn prices have declined by Rs 3-4 per kg due to weak demand in India, especially in the Ludhiana market. At the same time, polyester spinning prices have increased by Rs 2-3 per kg due to rising raw material costs.

RIL increases the price of polyester fiber raw materials, which in turn supports the price of recycled polyester fiber. It shows the support of the international market for the polyester upstream value chain. While setting raw material prices, RIL considers international market trends.

The price of polyester-cotton yarn in Surat remained stable without significant changes.

RIL recently updated prices, PTA 82.10 rupees per kilogram (up 0.40 rupees), MEG 48.90 rupees per kilogram (unchanged), MELT 87.23 rupees per kilogram (up 0.34 rupees) rupee). The new prices for these polyester raw materials came into effect last Saturday.

Despite poor demand, cotton prices in northern India remained stable at previous levels. Cotton is traded at Rs 5,850-5,950 per morind (37.2 kg) in Punjab, Rs 5,650-5,750 per morind in Haryana and Rs 6,000-6,125 per morind in Upper Rajasthan. The price of cotton in lower Rajasthan is Rs 55,000-56,500 per kandhi (356 kg).
