There are standards for flame-retardant fabrics, not just fabrics that cannot be burned!
Fire-proof cloth refers to a cloth that can automatically extinguish within 2 seconds of leaving the open flame even if it is ignited by an open flame. According to the order in which fireproof materials are added, there are two types: pre-processed fireproof cloth and post-processed fireproof cloth.
The fire-proof cloth we generally call does not burn in everyone’s impression, but this is not true. Fire-proof cloth actually catches fire when there is a fire, but it can be extinguished within a specified time after leaving the flame. There are corresponding fire protection Standards, such as: EN470-1 (EN14116), EN531 (EN11611), EN532, EN533 (EN11612), NFPA2112, NFPA70E, etc.
Fireproof fabrics are divided into two types: fiber fireproofing and post-finishing fireproofing
There are two main ways for fabrics to achieve fireproofing functionality: First, the fireproofing agent with fireproofing function is polymerized through polymers. Mixing, copolymerization, lamination spinning, grafting modification, etc. are added to the fiber to make the fiber fire-resistant. Second, use the post-finishing method to coat the fire retardant PU on the surface of the fabric or penetrate into the interior of the fabric. These two methods give fabrics different fire protection links, and the effects they produce are also different. At present, the best way is to use nanomaterials and nanotechnology to modify fabrics, which has low cost and long-lasting effects. The softness and feel of the fabrics have not changed at all, reaching the world’s first-class level. Generally speaking, fiber fireproofing can make full use of fire retardants than fabric fireproofing, and its effect is more durable and softer to the touch. However, in practical applications, a variety of fire retardants are often used to achieve fire protection effects in two or more ways.
