Liucheng County is one of the top ten base counties for the development of sericulture in the region. The sericulture industry is an important pillar industry for increasing farmers’ income. During the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, the county explored and promoted new technologies for silkworm breeding, and successively implemented the “National ‘East-to-West Mulberry Movement’ Project Sericulture Base Construction” and “High-quality Silkworms” The construction of a series of projects such as the “Integrated Application Demonstration of Efficient Planting, Breeding and Deep Processing Technology” and “Guangxi Silkworm Standard Park Construction”, and the integrated development of agriculture and tourism with the theme of silkworm culture have achieved results.
The county has formed a “Silkworm-Zen” cultural tourism boutique route in Fengshan Town, and gradually launched mulberry leaf tea, mulberry wine, silk quilts and other mulberry silkworm products, and successively launched them in demonstration bases in Zhailong, Chongmai, Fengshan and other towns. Guided the comprehensive utilization of mulberry branch edible fungi planting, interplanting vegetables in mulberry orchards, and harmless treatment of silkworm excrement. A total of more than 3,000 square meters of centralized silkworm excrement treatment pools and treatment stations were built. More than 1 million sticks of mulberry branch edible fungi were planted in the demonstration area. , the winter silkworm house is used to interplant edible fungi with an area of about 3,000 square meters, and a total of about 200,000 edible fungi have been cultivated.
During the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, Liucheng County built 10 modern sericulture demonstration zones, established 13 professional sericulture cooperatives, 23 large-scale silkworm breeding households, and the small silkworm co-breeding rate was about 96% . Last year, the total area of mulberry gardens in Liucheng County remained at 140,000 acres, the output of fresh cocoons was about 17,000 tons, the output value of fresh cocoons was nearly 800 million yuan, and the per capita income from sericulture reached 7,500 yuan.
