Today, the 2021 China International Cotton Conference was held in Suzhou, and we are deeply honored. Here, on behalf of the Suzhou Municipal Government, I would like to congratulate the convening of the meeting, welcome all the guests, express my gratitude to the All-China Federation of Supply and Marketing Cooperatives for their guidance, help and support to Suzhou, and express my gratitude to friends from all walks of life for their long-term I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Suzhou for your attention, care and love!
Suzhou is located on the southeast coast and is one of the important central cities in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration. It has superior natural conditions, profound cultural inheritance, and obvious location advantages. It is the city with the fastest economic growth, the highest degree of openness, and the strongest development vitality in the country. one. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, we have adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, conscientiously implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s series of important speeches on Jiangsu and Suzhou work, and closely adhered to the overall goal of “Strong, Rich, Beautiful and High” and striving for leadership. We must adhere to the new mission of leading by example, thoroughly implement the new development concept, seize major historical opportunities such as the “Yangtze River Delta Integration”, pioneer and innovate, forge ahead, and strive to create a new situation in the construction of a modern and powerful socialist city. In 2020, faced with the sudden impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, we united as one, faced the difficulties, focused on fighting three tough battles, solidly carried out the “six stability” work, fully implemented the “six guarantees” task, and achieved epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development, and the building of a high-level moderately prosperous society in an all-round way came to a successful conclusion. Economic development has reached a new level. The city’s GDP exceeded 2 trillion yuan, general public budget revenue reached 230.3 billion yuan, ranking fourth in the country, fixed asset investment was 522.4 billion yuan, an increase of 6.6%, and the total industrial output value above designated size was 3.48 trillion yuan, an increase of 4%, the total import and export volume reached 322.35 billion U.S. dollars, and the total actual use of foreign capital reached 5.54 billion U.S. dollars, remaining at the forefront of the country.
Suzhou has historically been an important town for growing cotton. The cotton textile industry has been developed. With the adjustment of the industrial structure, the cotton textile industry is now moving more to the middle and back end of the industrial chain. By extension, the Suzhou Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government have issued a series of policies and measures to implement in-depth thetransformation and upgrading project and accelerate the development of traditional industries including the textile and garment industryIntelligenceThe pace of transformation will promote the optimization and upgrading, independent innovation and brand building of the textile and garment industry. In 2020, there were more than 1,300 textile enterprises above designated size in the city, with operating income exceeding 110 billion yuan and total profits exceeding 3 billion yuan.
With the theme of “Building an Open, Inclusive, and Sustainable World Cotton Industry”, this conference has many experts, leaders, and entrepreneurs gathered in Suzhou to contribute insights to the development of China’s cotton industry.
