Yancheng: Cotton growth is strong and early bolls are expected to be out in mid-September
Recently, information officers from Yancheng, Jiangsu Province learned from the Jiangsu Coastal Development Group Agricultural Farm that at present, the cotton growth conditions of the two crops of seedling transplantation and post-wheat sowing are good.
As of August 5, the height of the local transplanted cotton plants was about 80 cm, with 10.4 fruit branches, 0.25 flowers of the same day, 21.5 buds, including 0.2 small bolls, 2.6 large bolls, and a shedding rate of 5.85 %; the plant height of wheat queen cotton is 78 cm, 10.2 fruit branches, 0.5 flowers on the same day, 14.6 buds, 0.3 small bolls, 0.1 large bolls, and the shedding rate is 7.4%. Based on the current growth situation, agricultural technology experts estimate that if there is no bad weather in mid-to-late August, the transplanted cotton will enter the linting period in mid-September, and it is expected that the local area will enter the peak period of picking and selling in early October.
