Local cotton farmers said that the boll-bearing period is a critical moment for high yields in cotton fields. Top dressing, watering, branch pruning, disease prevention, and insect control are all the main tasks of cotton field management during this period. At this time, field management is mainly about preserving flowers and bolls. The peak period of cotton boll growth is the period when the demand for nutrients is the highest. Because after cotton grows on peaches, the transportation of nutrients changes from the growth point to the fruiting branch cotton bolls.
One of the main tasks of cotton field management is to do a good job in the management of cotton in the middle and later stages to prevent premature aging of cotton and effectively extend the boll-bearing period of late cotton. At present, the bottom and middle bolls of the cotton have been formed, and most of the top peaches are growing. In the later period, cotton farmers should strengthen ventilation and light transmission in cotton fields to prevent the occurrence of phenomena such as falling off bells and rotten peaches.
It is understood that the occurrence of cotton aphids in cotton fields this year is mild, but there are currently more flower thrips in cotton fields. In order to ensure later production, most cotton fields in Korla City have strengthened the prevention and control of pests and diseases.
