On August 29, the “Textile Light” outstanding student research summer camp jointly sponsored by the Textile Light Science and Technology Education Foundation, the China Textile and Clothing Education Society, and the China Chemical Fiber Industry Association concluded successfully online. Ten outstanding students from Donghua University, Tianjin University of Technology, Zhejiang Science and Technology University, Xi’an Polytechnic University, Wuhan Textile University, Zhongyuan Institute of Technology, Suzhou University, Jiangnan University, Sichuan University, and Chengdu Textile College spent three days. As the first summer camp organized by the Textile Light Technology Education Foundation, it has received widespread attention from the industry. In fact, preparations for this summer camp began in June this year, and four warm-up activities were conducted. At the opening ceremony, Ye Zhimin, deputy secretary-general of the China Textile Industry Federation and chairman of the Textile Light Science and Technology Education Foundation, stated the original intention of the summer camp. Ye Zhimin said that when the fund was first established, it paid special attention to talent training. The only project at that time was to reward outstanding teachers and students from seven affiliated colleges. This was the original intention of Textile Light. Now the scope of rewards has been expanded to 16 colleges and universities. As of the end of 2020, a total of 4,205 outstanding teachers and students in the industry have been rewarded. It is based on this original intention and mission that on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the foundation, the first “Light of Textiles” outstanding student research summer camp was held.
Ni Yangsheng, executive vice president of the China Textile and Clothing Education Society and vice chairman of the Textile Light Science and Technology Education Foundation, has always been worried about the difficulty in recruiting students for textile majors. He believes that one of the reasons for the difficulty in enrolling students in textile majors is that there is insufficient publicity about the industry, and the advantages of the textile industry have not yet been recognized by society. This summer camp event is a good opportunity to promote the industry.
Ni Yangsheng introduced the past, present and future of the textile industry in the “Report on Employment of Textile Major Graduates”. He also introduced cases of textile majors graduates such as industry leaders and outstanding entrepreneurs, encouraging students to follow their examples, take root in the industry, and become industry talents.

Zhao Mingxia, deputy director of the China Textile and Apparel Federation’s Industrial Economics Research Institute, gave a lecture on “The Development Status, Trends and Directions of my country’s Textile Industry under the New Situation”. Regarding the development status of my country’s textile industry, Zhao Mingxia introduced the textile industry system, domestic demand market, and the improvement of production efficiency brought about by technological development with detailed data. In the new situation facing the development of the textile industry, she introduced the international trade pattern, the impact of the new crown epidemic on the industry, the opportunities and challenges brought by the technological revolution, and the new model of dual-carbon target development.
