On November 9, at the former site of Dacheng No. 3 Factory on the bank of the ancient canal, the Changzhou Textile Museum, which integrates history, culture, textile technology, art and fashion, is undergoing exhibition layout work. The project was rated as the “Provincial Key Cultural and Tourism Industry Project in 2021” by the Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and is expected to be opened to the outside world in 2022.

According to reports, Changzhou Textile Museum has five themed exhibition halls: Popular Science Hall, Jinxiu Hall, Changzhou Hall, Temporary Exhibition Hall, and Cultural and Creative Hall. Among them, the Popular Science Hall, Jinxiu Hall and Changzhou Hall are permanent exhibitions, which are the focus of viewing and experience centers. When entering the museum, the first thing that catches your eye is a spectacular velvet embroidery work “Hongyang 1936 Panoramic Bird’s Eye View”. It took 15 professionals half a year to complete, using more than 1,500 balls of wool, and the work weighs more than 100 kilograms. Kilograms, mountains, rivers, and buildings are all woven differently.

The Jinxiu Hall displays various costumes from ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad. The Chinese costume section displays 25 sets of costumes from the pre-Qin Dynasty to the Republic of China. The Western costume section displays 30 sets of costumes from ancient Greece and ancient Rome to today. Many national costumes at home and abroad directly reflect the changes in clothing culture.

The exhibition in the Changzhou Pavilion has two major features. One is the restoration of the old workshop of Dacheng No. 3 Factory, where textile equipment from more than 100 years ago was moved in; the other is the famous Changzhou brand Black PeonyDenim and moonlit corduroy are artistic scenes made from more than 6,000 meters of material.
