Tangshan: The intended cotton planting area in 2022 may increase by 5.4%

In order to understand the cotton planting intentions of cotton farmers in the Tangshan area of Hebei Province in the new year, the Hebei Tangshan Monitoring Station conducted a survey on many local contact points throughout the year. The survey results show that the intended cotton planting area in 2022 is 271 acres, an increase of 14 acres from the actual planting area of 257 acres in 2021, and a year-on-year increase of 5.4%.

In this survey, 72% of farmers said that the cotton planting area will remain unchanged in 2022. First, the planting area is small, generally less than ten acres; second, they are basically traditional cotton planting households in old cotton areas. ; Third, the efficiency of cotton planting this year has improved compared with other cash crops.

19% of farmers expressed their intention to increase the area of cotton planting. First, although the yield of seed cotton per unit area has declined this year, the price of seed cotton is higher this year, and the income from cotton planting has not decreased compared with last year. Second, some farmers who grow peppers are affected by the climate change. The impact on income is low, and we are preparing to increase cotton planting area next year.

The remaining 9% of farmers said that they will reduce the cotton planting area in the coming year. First, they are preparing to increase the corn planting area. The price of corn this year is about 1.3 yuan/jin, and the income is high; second, because cotton planting is labor-intensive and time-consuming, cotton planting will be reduced. area to free up time to work outside and increase income.

Judging from the results of this survey, it is expected that the actual cotton sown area will be stable next year, and the actual situation needs to wait for the next survey.
