Beijing Consumers Association: 16 of the 80 sports shoes purchased online did not meet the standards
The quality of sports and leisure shoes is directly related to the wearing comfort and physical health of the general public, especially the growth and development of children. Yesterday, the Beijing Consumers Association announced the results of a comparative test on 80 models of sports and leisure shoes. The results showed that 16 samples did not meet the requirements of the test standards or comparative test plans. Product identification, folding resistance of finished shoes, wear resistance of outsoles, color fastness to rubbing of linings and inner pads, and phthalates are the main unqualified items. The unqualified samples involved Red Dragonfly, Decathlon, Jordan and other brands.
A reporter from Beijing Youth Daily learned that the samples for this comparative test were all purchased online, and were purchased by Municipal Consumers Association staff as ordinary consumers from Tmall, JD.com, Vipshop, and PinduoduoE-commerce platform purchased a total of 80 samples from 49 brands, including 50 adult shoes and 30 children’s shoes. The unit price ranges from 59.01 yuan to 1800 yuan, and the samples cover a wide range and are well representative.
The Municipal Consumers Association stated that in this comparative test, most of the product labels did not meet the standard requirements, including DECATHLON/Deathlon’s sports and leisure shoes, BeLLE/Belle’s children’s travel shoes, NIKKO’s hiking shoes, and FILA’s shoes (unlabeled product name), HOBIBEAR’s high-quality children’s shoes, Jordan’s running shoes, New Balance’s men’s and women’s sports shoes, Clarks’ women’s casual shoes, Hotwind’s women’s fashion casual shoes, New Balance’s children’s sports shoes, FILA’s running shoes, etc. In addition, a sample of children’s fashion running shoes from Red Dragonfly was found to have unqualified outsole wear resistance; a men’s casual shoe from Cabbeen was found to have unqualified folding resistance.
The Municipal Consumers Association reminds consumers that when purchasing sports and leisure shoes, pay attention to check the identification labels of the products, including whether the product information on the shoes, hang tags, and shoe boxes is complete and accurate. If the product packaging is rough and the label information is incomplete, it is not standardized. (For example, products that lack the company name or contact information, product name, shoe size, material, three guarantees, etc.) should be purchased with caution. Do not buy shoes with a pungent smell. A pungent smell means that harmful chemicals may remain on the shoes. You should choose shoes that are odorless or have a non-obvious and non-irritating smell.
