How to reduce shrinkage and wrinkles during fabric sewing
Tag:
Fabric finishing
The fabric itself has a great impact on the sewing condition. For example, some fabrics with fine structures, fabrics that have been finished, and fabrics that are thin and non-stretchy.
When the sewing direction is parallel to the warp direction of these fabrics, the embedded stitches will force the warp yarns out of place because each stitch By pushing the warp yarns apart, the deviations generated by the accumulation of multiple stitches will shrink along the body of the seam and cause sewing wrinkles. When the direction of sewing is parallel to the weft direction of these fabrics, there is usually less wrinkles. Therefore, consider using bias cutting. If necessary, apply smoothing agent to the fabric.
In addition, thin needles should be used whenever possible. Because the fine needle can significantly reduce the resistance generated when passing through the fabric, it has the effect of preventing shrinkage and wrinkles. At the same time, pay attention to changing new needles frequently.
When using synthetic sewing thread, the tension of the suture must be carefully determined and the tension should be adjusted to a low value. Synthetic sewing threads that are sewn into fabric with too much tension will automatically shrink to relieve the tension. This phenomenon will cause the fabric body to shrink along the seams, causing the seams to wrinkle.
