Pakistan’s textile exports fine-tuned in first seven months of current fiscal year
According to statistics from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), in the first seven months of the 2013/2014 fiscal year (July 2013 ~ January 2014), Pakistan’s textile exports were US$8.035 billion. , an increase of 7.59% compared with the same period last year.
In the first seven months of the current fiscal year, Pakistan exported 87,091 tons of cotton, with an export value of US$154 million. In the same period of the previous fiscal year, it only exported 53,540 tons of cotton, with an export value of US$90.5 million. The export value was year-on-year. A significant increase of 70.12%. In the first seven months, Pakistan exported US$1.645 billion in cotton cloth, US$1.308 billion in knitted garments, US$1.236 billion in bedding, US$1.204 billion in cotton yarn, and US$1.104 billion in woven garments. During the same period, Pakistan imported US$1.443 billion in textiles, a year-on-year increase of 1.34%; and imported US$298 million in cotton, a year-on-year decrease of 31.54%. It imported 121,000 tons of synthetic fibers, with an import value of US$240 million, and imported 130,000 tons of chemical fibers and rayon, with an import value of US$336 million.
In January 2014, Pakistan exported US$1.097 billion in textiles and clothing and imported US$334 million in textiles and clothing.
