“Bleeding combat suit” successfully developed in the United States
A company in the United States has developed a combat uniform with a built-in tourniquet and is currently testing it for use. People hope that this “bleeding combat uniform” can save lives on the battlefield.
According to a recent report by the Associated Press, the “Bleeding Combat Suit” developed by Black Hawk Company has a total of 8 tourniquets, two for each sleeve and trouser leg. Tourniquets are styled like narrow backpack straps and are sewn into clothing and hidden under snap buttons. The retail price of a “bleeding combat suit” is expected to be no more than $200.
Based in Norfolk, Virginia, Blackhawk is a supplier of military apparel and law enforcement uniforms. An American military doctor stationed in the Middle East returned home to talk with the company, which led to the development of the “bleeding combat uniform.”
The military doctor said that in a rocket attack, a comrade was fatally wounded, but he was unable to get close enough to put a hemostatic bandage on his comrade, and had to watch the latter bleed to death.
