Classification of fabrics
1. Classification according to fabric processing methods
1. Woven fabric refers to fabrics processed by warp and weft yarns on shuttle or shuttleless looms. The cloth surface is divided into warp and weft directions.
2. Knitted fabric refers to a fabric that uses one or a group of yarns as raw materials and is processed by a weft knitting machine or a warp knitting machine to form a series of coils.
3. Nonwoven fabrics refer to textiles that are directly composed of fiber layers without going through traditional spinning and weaving processes (including stitch-bonded nonwoven fabrics composed of thread layers).
2. According to the yarn structure of the fabric
1. Yarn fabric A fabric woven from a single yarn.
2. Whole-thread fabric A fabric woven entirely from strands.
3. Half-thread fabric is a fabric woven with strands for the warp and single yarns for the weft.
3. According to the spinning system of the fabric
1. Combed fabric Fabrics woven from combed yarn are mostly high-grade fabrics.
2. Carded fabrics are fabrics woven from carded yarns, mainly ordinary mid-range fabrics and industrial fabrics.
4. According to the different raw materials used in yarn
1. Pure woven fabric Fabric woven from pure spun yarn. Such as cotton fabrics, wool fabrics, linen fabrics, silk fabrics, pure fiber fabrics, etc.
2. Blended fabric Fabric woven from blended yarns. The naming principle of blended fabrics is: the one with a larger blending ratio is in the front, and the one with a smaller blending ratio is in the back; when the blending ratio is the same, the natural fiber is in the front, the synthetic fiber is in the back, and the man-made fiber is in the back.
3. Interwoven fabric is a fabric in which warp and weft yarns are interwoven with yarns or filaments of different fibers.
5. Divided according to different raw materials and production processes
1. Cotton-type fabrics are commercially referred to simply as “cottons.” It is a fabric woven from cotton yarn or cotton and chemical fiber blended yarn.
2. Woolen fabrics are commercially referred to as “wool fabrics”. It is a fabric woven from animal hair and wool-type chemical fibers.
3. Silk fabrics are commercially known simply as “silk”. The fabric woven with mulberry silk as raw material is called real silk; the fabric woven with tussah silk as raw material is called tussah silk. Both real silk and tussah silk are filament fabrics, which can be divided into two types: raw silk and cooked silk. Raw silk refers to unrefined cocoon silk, while cooked silk refers to refined cocoon silk. Cooked silk is of higher quality than raw silk. The fabric made by cutting off the byss and spinning it into yarn and then weaving it is called silk fabric. In addition, there are interwoven silks interwoven with various chemical fiber filaments.
4． Linen fabrics mainly include ramie fabrics and linen fabrics. Jute and other types of hemp are generally not used for clothing, but are only used as packaging materials or industrial fabrics.
5． Pure fiber fabrics mainly include medium and long fiber imitation cotton, imitation linen, imitation wool, imitation silk fabrics, chemical fiber filament fabrics, artificial deerskin and artificial fur, etc.
6. According to printing and dyeing processing methods
1. Natural color cloth, also known as “grey cloth”, refers to fabrics that maintain their original color without dyeing and finishing. Natural color cloth can be directly sold in the market, but most of them are used as gray cloth in printing and dyeing factories.
2. Bleached fabric Fabric that has been bleached.
3. Dyed Fabric Fabrics in which natural fabrics are dyed into a single color through a dyeing process.
4． Printed fabric is a fabric with patterns on the surface of the fabric through the printing process.
5． Yarn-dyed fabric is a fabric woven with yarns of different colors in warp and weft.
6． Dyed fabric is a fabric that is first dyed with part of the fibers or tops, and then mixed into yarn with the dyed fibers or tops and natural fibers in a certain proportion and then woven into yarn.
