China’s 300 ramie fabrics set a record
Weaving ramie crude fiber into evening dress fabrics that are “as thin as cicada wings and smooth as silk” is the long-cherished goal of China’s ramie textile industry. Cheng Xiongwei, secretary-general of the Ramie Professional Committee of the China Linen Industry Association, recently confirmed that Hunan Huasheng Zhuzhou Cedar Co., Ltd. has recently successfully developed a 300-count pure ramie fabric after breaking the record held by Japan with a 160-count pure ramie fabric.
This high-end pure ramie fabric is currently a high-thread-count hemp product. The price exported to the European and American markets reaches 200 yuan/meter, which is 20 times the price of ordinary pure ramie fabric in the past.
Cheng Hongwei said that ramie fabric is recognized for its hygroscopic, breathable and antibacterial properties and has always been regarded as a fashionable and noble textile in Europe and the United States. However, in the past, ramie fabrics could not exceed 160 count. The fabric was not light, elegant, smooth, and comfortable enough to wear, which to a large extent restricted the expansion of the ramie market. A large number of Chinese ramie textile companies export mainly rely on quantity, resulting in low prices of Chinese exported ramie fabrics and average economic benefits.
It is understood that Hunan Huasheng Zhuzhou Cedar Co., Ltd. has achieved a historic leap in ramie fabrics from 160 to 300 in one fell swoop, thanks to independent technological innovation and the integration of domestic ramie textile industry technology . It is reported that “Huasheng Cedar” 300-count pure ramie fabric will be produced in small batches this year. Its first batch of products has attracted customers from some countries such as Europe and Japan to visit and negotiate, and is regarded as the “top quality fabric” for sewing high-end evening gowns and high-end fashion.
