Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry achieves surplus of US$100 million
According to Vietnam’s “Material Market and Price” magazine, Le Jinchang, deputy general manager of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Group (Vinatex), said that in 2011, the textile and apparel industry exported approximately US$13.8 billion, accounting for 16.5% of Vietnam’s total exports. A year-on-year increase of nearly 38%. A surplus of US$6.5 billion was achieved, and the localization rate was nearly 50%.
In 2012, the textile and garment industry set a goal of exporting US$15 billion in exports, a year-on-year increase of 10-12%, while accelerating the demutualization of the head office and five subsidiaries.
