The U.S. trade deficit surged .% to three highs
The U.S. trade deficit widened for the second consecutive month in December last year, affected by rising oil prices and increased imports of cars and aircraft.
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on Friday that the U.S. trade deficit in goods and services expanded by 3.7% to $48.8 billion in December last year. The revised trade deficit in November was US$47.06 billion, compared with the initial value of US$47.75 billion.
