Egypt boosts textile trade ties with Sweden
In order to explore the prospects of multilateral trade in the textile field, a delegation of Egyptian textile industry insiders recently visited Sweden.
More than 40 textile experts and entrepreneurs from both countries participated in the Egyptian-Swedish Textile Forum held in Gothenburg on February 16-17 to find ways to cooperate and open up new markets for Egyptian cotton and ready-made clothing.
Swedish Trade Minister Eva Bjorlin said at this seminar that she predicted that the two countries would have good opportunities in multilateral trade relations.
When emphasizing the importance of international trade in the current competitive period, Eva Bjorlin said that free trade is the cornerstone of Sweden’s foreign trade policy. International trade and the ability of domestic companies to compete in global markets form the basis of a country’s success.
The Egyptian delegation will also visit Swedish department stores, such as Nordic Department Store and Nordstrom Shopping Center, to familiarize themselves with Swedish local market standards. They will also house the Swedish textile industry center Borås, meeting several textile importers and the owners of several fashion uprising and textile organizations. Boras contributes approximately 50% to Sweden’s textile production.
The Arab Development Company, which was part of the Egyptian delegation, said it had been given access to its Swedish counterparts. This visit will help them develop good business contracts.
According to a statement from the Swedish Ambassador in Cairo, the Egyptian delegation’s visit to Sweden is part of Egypt’s initiative to cooperate with the Swedish Trade Council to publicize trade relations between the two countries.
