Kenya launches textile industry revitalization plan
The Kenyan government will use a 1.8 billion Kenyan shilling loan from the World Bank to expand cotton planting, reopen cotton ginning plants, and increase the added value of textiles to resist the impact of second-hand clothing imports on the country’s textile and apparel market. In addition, Kenya’s Ministry of Industrialization will launch a “Buy Kenyan” campaign to promote local products.
