Pakistan’s cotton production hits record
According to Pakistan’s “Daily Times” report, as of March 1, 2012, Pakistan’s cotton output has reached 14.38 million bales (1 bale equals 170 kilograms), 2.87 million bales more than the 11.52 million bales in the same period last year, and has already It surpassed the 14.31 million bales produced in the 2004-05 cotton season and set a new production record. So far, of the 14.38 million bales of cotton that have been harvested, 12.46 million bales have arrived at major cotton spinning mills.
Analysts predict that by the end of the 2011-12 cotton season (the end of May 2012), Pakistan’s cotton output is expected to exceed 16 million bales, higher than the 14.01 million bales production target set by the Pakistan Cotton Crop Assessment Committee (CCAC).
