All yarn varieties were affected in January, showing varying degrees of decline. The export quantities of cotton yarn and wool animal hair yarn fell by 39.4% and 39.3%, and the export quantities of chemical fiber yarn and silk thread dropped by 27.5% and 11%. .
ASEAN has become an export highlight, with exports to North America increasing slightly. In January 2012, Asia was still the main market for China’s yarn exports, but both the export quantity and value dropped by 30%. The export value to Hong Kong, China, dropped by 43.2%. The unit price of exports to the EU fell sharply, with the 11.6% drop dragging down the export volume. The export volume was 30,000 tons, down 6.5%, and the export value was US$92 million, down 17%.
Export prices of cotton yarn and silk thread fell. Among the main export products, the export price of cotton yarn was 4.9 US dollars/kg, down 7.8% year-on-year, silk thread was 28.87 US dollars/kg, down 15.8%, and the export unit price of chemical fiber yarn and wool animal hair yarn was 3.4 US dollars/kg and 29.2 US dollars/kg. Increases of 7.3% and 12.8% respectively.
