Spanish textile imports “snubber” China, optimistic about Türkiye
According to the latest information released by the Textile and Clothing Information Center (Cityc), the number of textile products imported by Spain from China remained unchanged in 2011, while at the same time it increased the number of imports from neighboring countries, such as Turkey, Portugal and Eastern Europe.
However, it is worth noting that the volume of textile imports from Asia remains high, accounting for 47% of the Spanish market share. According to Cityc data, the quantity imported from China remained unchanged at 23.7%, while the quantity imported from Bangladesh rose to 6.2%, and the quantity imported from Pakistan and Vietnam was 2.43% and 2.3% respectively.
From the data shown in 2011, we can see that due to the increase in Asian textile prices, Spain has clearly tended to choose to import textiles from neighboring countries. The volume of textile imports from the EU has not changed much, accounting for about 31% of the total. Spanish imports from France and Italy decreased as imports from neighboring Portugal increased.
