Zimbabwe cotton output surges

At the just-concluded 10th African Cotton Conference, Zimbabwe’s Deputy Minister of Agriculture Moyo said that based on the current production situation, Zimbabwe’s cotton output will reach 265,000-280,000 tons in 2012, compared with 249,000 tons in 2011 tons increased significantly. As Zimbabwe’s second largest agricultural export after tobacco, cotton revenue reached US$200 million in 2011, providing livelihood security for nearly 250,000 farmers.
