Vietnam’s apparel and textile exports have good development prospects
According to Vietnam’s “Economic Times” report, clothing, textiles, wood products and aquatic and seafood products are Vietnam’s three export commodities with good development prospects. In the first quarter of 2012, Vietnam exported US$3.2 billion in clothing and textiles, an increase of 15.4% over the same period last year, and the annual exports are expected to be US$19-19.5 billion; the export of aquatic products was US$1.2 billion, an increase of 13.2%, and the annual exports are expected to be US$6.5 billion; Exports of wood products were US$1 billion, an increase of 18.3%, and the annual exports are expected to be US$4 billion.
According to reports, Vietnam is the second largest exporter of clothing and textiles in Asia, second only to China. Aquatic products are Vietnam’s largest export commodities in agriculture, forestry and fishery. The wood products industry is developing rapidly and may enter the global wood product production and supply chain.
