The Indian government will meet to make a final decision on cotton exports

According to Sharad Pawar, Minister of Agriculture and Food Processing Industries of India, the Indian government will hold a high-level meeting to make a final decision on the export of cotton and other agricultural products, such as wheat, rice, sugar and onions. Held on April 30th.

Pawar believes that growers should not be restricted from selling their produce to any market. Additionally, 11 million bales of cotton had been exported before the government announced the ban, compared with 5.4 million bales last year.

Nearly 3 million bales of cotton stocks are currently in the hands of cotton producers or stored in ginners, of which 2 million bales may be exported due to increased demand from textile mills. Cotton production this year is expected to be 35 million bales, compared with 33 million bales last year.
