India’s leading denim company enters Ethiopia

An Indian denim manufacturer plans to enter Ethiopia and spend US$100 million to build Ethiopia’s largest textile and apparel production factory.
The Indian company made the above decision after participating in a textile trade show called “African Origin” held in the Ethiopian capital Artis Ababa a few days ago. The name of the company has not yet been disclosed.
The above information was disclosed by Mr. Rajeev Arora, executive director of the African Cotton and Textile Industry Alliance.
The company plans to establish an upstream and downstream one-stop production line, from cotton, yarn, cloth to clothing.
The company has made a request to the Ethiopian government, hoping to provide it with 10,000 hectares of land for cotton cultivation.
