Among the dyes used in clothing and textile products, aromatic amine substances, which are some dye intermediates, have carcinogenic effects if they come into contact with the skin. Therefore, hundreds of specific azo dyes containing this substance have been banned by many countries such as the European Union and the United States. Countries have successively banned its use. In the industry self-regulatory standards officially released by Japan this time, the content of 22 specific azo dyes involved in clothing and textile products must not exceed 30mg/kg.
Japan is one of the markets that my country’s textile and apparel export companies attach great importance to. The implementation of new standards will inevitably increase the costs of textile and apparel export companies and bring certain trade risks to export companies. To this end, the inspection and quarantine department reminds relevant enterprises to actively respond, establish a good qualified supplier management and evaluation system, strengthen the procurement and acceptance of raw and auxiliary materials, ensure that export products meet the new requirements of the importing country, and avoid unnecessary losses.
