my country’s textile and clothing market share in major economies has declined
WTA data shows that from January to February 2012, the EU imported US$21.42 billion in textiles and clothing from outside the EU, a year-on-year decrease of 3.9%. Among them, imports from China were US$9.1 billion, down 4.2%, accounting for 42.5% of the import market. Among the top ten import source countries, imports from Bangladesh grew the fastest, with an increase of 14%, while imports from Turkey, India and Morocco all fell by more than 10%.
China’s share of the Japanese market fell by 2.3 percentage points. From January to March 2012, Japan imported US$10.13 billion in textiles and clothing from around the world, a year-on-year increase of 8.3%. Among them, imports from China were US$7.29 billion, an increase of 4.9%, accounting for 71.9% of the import market, a year-on-year decrease of 2.3 percentage points. Among the top ten import source countries, imports from Bangladesh grew rapidly, with an increase of 92.7%, while imports from Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia grew rapidly, with increases of 30%, 30.7% and 28.1% respectively.
