According to China Customs statistics, the national yarn import and export volume from January to May 2012 was 2.1915 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3%, and the import and export volume was US$7.9 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 4.9%. Among them, the export quantity was 1.361 million tons, down 7.3%; the export value was US$4.92 billion, down 13.1%; the average export unit price was US$3.61/kg, down 6.24%. The import quantity was 830,000 tons, an increase of 25.9%; the import value was US$2.98 billion, an increase of 12.5%.

From the perspective of single-month exports, the yarn export volume in May was 316,000 tons, an increase of 15.7%, and a month-on-month increase of 10%; the export value was US$1.14 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%, and a month-on-month increase of 7%; the export unit price was slightly dropped to US$3.62/kg, a decrease of 13.1%.
In May, except for the decline in the export quantity of wool and animal hair yarns, the exports of other yarns increased at different rates. Cotton yarn increased by 35.1% year-on-year, and the export quantities of silk thread and chemical fiber yarn increased by 4.2% and 14.8% year-on-year.
2. From January to May 2012, cotton yarn enterprises’ exports dropped the most
Affected by the price difference between domestic and foreign cotton, the country’s cotton yarn exports fell the most from January to May this year, with exports falling 22.5% year-on-year. The exports of cotton yarn companies were greatly affected. Weiqiao, which ranked first in cotton yarn exports last year, dropped to fourth from January to May this year, with exports down 86.7% year-on-year; Shenzhen Huafu and Jiangsu Cathay Hualian, which ranked second and fifth, dropped 24% and 25% respectively. Decline.
3. Exports to ASEAN and North America still maintain growth
From January to May 2012, the Asian market accounted for 72.2% of China’s yarn exports. Despite the overall decline in yarn exports in the first five months of this year, exports to ASEAN increased. The export volume reached 186,000 tons, an increase of 37%, and the export value was US$680 million, an increase of 22.1%. Among them, exports to Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar were US$330 million, US$35 million and US$27 million, with increases of 53.3%, 16.4% and 23.5%. In May, exports to Vietnam and Cambodia increased by 61.5% and 52.8% respectively, while exports to Myanmar decreased by 2.8%. %. Exports to Indonesia and Malaysia increased by 12.8% and 44.4% in May.
Yarn exports to Hong Kong were US$1.08 billion, down 13.8%. In May, exports to Hong Kong were US$250 million, an increase of 5%.
Exports to North America grew significantly from January to May 2012, with exports amounting to US$220 million, an increase of 8.8%. For the European Union and Latin America, there were declines of 19.5% and 19.6% respectively.
