Tangshan, Hebei: Suitable climate accelerates cotton growth
Last week (August 2-8), except for light to moderate rain on the 4th and 5th, the remaining days were sunny and sunny, which was conducive to the growth of cotton plants.
Up to now, the local cotton plants that are growing well have produced 12-13 bolls, which is 6-7 more than the previous week (July 26-August 1); the cotton plants that are growing poorly have produced bolls. There are 7-8 bells, 3-4 more per plant than the previous week (July 26-August 1). This is a critical period for cotton plants to set bolls, and it is also an important period for the final yield of cotton. At present, the main tasks of cotton field management are: first, to pinch buds to increase the reproductive growth of cotton plants; second, to spray the pesticide mediamine to inhibit the vertical and horizontal growth of cotton plants, increase the boll setting rate of cotton plants, and thus increase cotton yield. A local cotton farmer said that the current occurrence of diseases and insect pests in cotton plants is mild, and the main pest is blind bugs. The early spraying of pesticides has been controlled, ensuring the normal growth of cotton.
