Looking around, I saw several rows of silkworm houses on the mountain, and the mountain was covered with mulberry trees newly planted in the land. “The construction of the base has just been completed, covering an area of more than 700 acres, of which 650 acres are planted with mulberry, and the small silkworm workshop area is 800 square meters, the medium silkworm workshop area is 600 square meters, and the large silkworm workshop area is 2,400 square meters.” A local Cocoon Silk Company Liao Wankang, head of the company, said. It is reported that the base is now in operation and can breed 240 silkworm seeds in each phase. It is expected to produce 12,000 kilograms of cocoons, which can bring an income of more than 600,000 yuan to silkworm farmers.

The completion of the base is one of the results of the county’s efforts to leverage local resources and industrial base advantages and focus on promoting the construction of large-scale standardized mulberry gardens. At present, the county has built or completed the renovation of a number of small silkworm co-breeding rooms and large silkworm breeding standardized bases; it plans to invest 96 million yuan to build 21 large-scale standardized mulberry industry projects, and 5 projects are currently under construction.

When talking about future development, Liao Wankang said that the base will promote sericulture controlintelligent, process standardization, and technical processes by implementing integrated water and fertilizer and mechanized management and maintenance of mulberry gardens. Modernization and management modernization will turn silkworm farmers into industrial workers, turn batch breeding into assembly line production, and steadily improve the cocoon output, quality and economic benefits of the base. At the same time, advanced concepts and technologies are introduced to comprehensively develop and utilize mulberry silkworms, mulberry branches, mulberry leaves and mulberry fruits, process tourism commodities, create agricultural leisure and tourist spots, and strive to achieve the organic integration of the three industries.
