The influence of yarn twist on textile technology and fabric style
The number of twists per unit length of spinning yarn is called twist. The twist of spinning yarn has a significant impact on the strength, feel, elasticity, abrasion resistance, pilling and finish of the fabric. Generally, the following principles need to be grasped when designing the twist of spinning yarn: (1) The twist of pure wool yarn is greater than the twist of blended chemical fiber fabric yarn, and the twist of blended chemical fiber fabric yarn is greater than the twist of chemical fiber yarn. (2) The twist of short fiber yarn is greater than that of long fiber spinning yarn. (3) The twist of low special yarn is greater than that of high special yarn.
