Yarkand: Recent meteorological conditions are favorable for cotton growth and development
Recently, the agricultural meteorological staff of the Yarkand Meteorological Bureau conducted a cotton field survey. The survey showed that the recent agricultural meteorological conditions in Yarkand County are beneficial to the growth and development of cotton. On September 10, cotton entered the crop observation area of Yarkand County. During the peak period of vomiting, the development period is 11 days earlier than in previous years. The average temperature in the first ten days of September was 2.1°C higher than the same period in previous years; the precipitation in the first ten days was 2.7 mm lower than the same period in previous years. The number of sunshine hours was 21.7 hours more than the same period in previous years. In early September, the cotton at the measuring point entered the peak period of fluffing. Meteorological conditions within ten days are favorable for cotton bolls to burst.
The number of autumn peaches in high-yield and low-yield fields this year was 2.3 and 2.5 respectively, which were 1.0 and 1.3 more than in previous years and 0.4 and 2.0 more than last year. The cotton at the measuring point is in its peak period. The number of autumn peaches was 0.7, which was 0.7 less than previous years and 0.2 less than last year. In general: the early agricultural and climatic conditions are generally conducive to the growth of cotton, and the overall growth of cotton is good. It is recommended to carry out picking work in cotton fields that have been spun out in time, and to take ventilation measures in cotton fields to avoid the occurrence of rotten peaches.
The peak period of flocculation is an important period in determining yield. Agricultural meteorology staff investigated and analyzed the cotton growth status, density, height, number of fruit branches, single boll weight and field at the measurement points. From the analysis results: the density of measuring points is 17.25 plants/㎡, the leaf area index is 2.9, the number of fruit branches is 9.4, and the weight of a single boll is 6.5 grams. The weight of a single boll in a high-yielding field is 5.8 grams, and that in a low-yielding field is 5.9 grams. The relative humidity of the soil is within the appropriate range for cotton soil moisture. Because the quality of cotton field management in the later period will directly affect the yield and quality of cotton, the agricultural gas staff of the Shache County Meteorological Bureau provided cotton farmers with cotton field management measures during the peak period to ensure that Increased cotton income and production.
