Chongqing Qianjiang: The annual output value of the sericulture industry exceeds 1 billion yuan
Silkworm mulberry is one of the important characteristic agricultural industries in Qianjiang, Chongqing. In recent years, Qianjiang has aimed to build sericulture as a “preferential area for agricultural products with Chinese characteristics” and promote industrytransformation and upgrading, focusing on building a development model for the entire sericulture industry chain. Today, 100,000 acres of standard mulberry gardens have been built in the district, with an annual output of 80,000 tons of cocoons. The cocoon production has ranked first in the city for 11 consecutive years. Qianjiang TongxiangSilk Industrial Park has built a silk industrial cluster integrating cocoon, silk, silk, textile, clothing, etc. by introducing advanced enterprises from the eastern coast.
Last year, Qianjiang silkworm farmers’ income from selling cocoons reached 200 million yuan, and the annual output value of the entire industry chain exceeded 1 billion yuan. More than 12,000 people were engaged in sericulture production, helping 586 households out of poverty to increase their income.
