What is mica?
Mica is a rock-forming mineral, usually in the form of pseudo-hexagonal or rhombus-shaped plates, sheets, and columnar crystals. The color varies with changes in chemical composition, and mainly becomes darker as the Fe content increases. Muscovite is mostly used in industry, followed by phlogopite. It is widely used in the building materials industry, fire protection industry, fire extinguishing agents, welding rods, plastics, electrical insulation, papermaking, asphalt paper, rubber, pearlescent pigments and other chemical industries.
Functions and principles
Cooling function
The thin layer of mica itself is completely transparent and colorless, with a melting point as high as 1300 degrees, and its properties remain completely unchanged up to 550 degrees.
Mica itself has a sheet-like silicate structure, and its thermal conductivity rate is more than 5 times that of ordinary PET. After nanoscale delamination, the mica surface is charged, resulting in a hydration effect, and a hydration film is formed, so it has a high moisture content. High moisture content also drives cooling effect. Therefore, under the multiple effects of “high heat absorption effect + high thermal conductivity + high moisture content”, nanolayer mica becomes a heat dissipation and cooling material with high heat absorption and high cooling.
1. Cool down
Mica comes from the yarn and is arranged isotropically. Due to the boundary scattering effect, heat propagates extremely quickly in the transverse direction.
Through KES and international standard tests, it can be concluded that under the dual effects of high thermal conductivity and heat absorption effect, mica fiber has a cool feeling and is particularly suitable for making summer clothing.
2 Antistatic function
Compared with other yarn types, mica yarn’s excellent antistatic effect makes it different from PET or NYLON.
3. Water absorption function
Since mica itself has a flaky silicate structure, its thermal conductivity is better than PET itself. The hydration effect formed by the mica itself after delamination can easily form a hydration film. This dual effect of “heat conduction + water content” is exactly what is needed in summer, which is why the yarn is cold.
4. Deodorizing function and anti-UV function
Because the specific surface area of delaminated mica is about 450M2/g or more, it has the effect of adsorbing and decomposing odors similar to activated carbon. Nano-level deodorizing and antibacterial factors are added to the new generation-MICAXPLUS mica cooling fiber to treat both the symptoms and the root cause. Effect. With the correct selection of materials, component proportions and corresponding fabric structures, products with an instant cooling value of Q-MAX 0.446 can be produced. NH3 deodorization rate reaches 99%. After washing: UV shielding rate 96.9%/UPF rating 50+ or above.
