The “2021 China Cotton Early Warning System-China Cotton Price Index and China Cotton Textile Enterprise Information Monitoring Project” training meeting was successfully held in Jinan

At this training meeting, representatives of the association introduced the work carried out by China’s cotton early warning system in the past two years, analyzed the overall situation of the current cotton industry, and proposed relevant work plans for 2021. The meeting gave a detailed introduction to the content structure, costs, and development goals of China’s cotton early warning system. The collection, calculation and application of the China Cotton Price Index in the China Cotton Early Warning System were also explained. In view of the fact that the China Cotton Price Index is not reflected in a timely manner, the project information officer representative made suggestions to adjust the index release time.
During the training session, the informants analyzed and communicated on cotton production, acquisition and the overall operation of the industry. In recent years, Xinjiang’s cotton production has maintained a steady upward trend. Compared with Xinjiang’s production, the mainland’s cotton area and output have shrunk significantly. Since September, the purchase of new cotton has begun, and the purchase price of seed cotton in various places is generally high. Among them, the recent purchase price in Hubei and Hebei is around 8.4 yuan/kg, and the purchase price in Anhui is as low as 7.6-8.0 yuan/kg. Textile enterprises reported that due to the rise in cotton prices and the introduction of “dual control and double limit” policies in various places, downstream cloth factories have limited or suspended production, yarn orders have decreased, and inventories have increased. The profits of textile enterprises have shrunk compared with the first half of the year.
