A breakdown of the “warmth” of Datang’s socks – written on the eve of the 15th China Datang International Socks Expo
The 15th China Datang International Socks Expo will be held in Zhuji, Zhejiang from October 28th to 30th. The theme is “Datang Socks Industry, Warmth with You”.
On October 8, the organizers left Zhejiang and came to Shanghai to hold a press conference. According to the words of Shen Zhijiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Shaoxing Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Zhuji Municipal Party Committee: “It is not only to warm up and build momentum for the Socks Expo, but also hopes to use it as a Bridge, build a good relationship, seek common development, and win the future together.”
So, taking the opportunity of the press conference, let’s first talk about the “warmth” of Datang socks.
Chasing the Dream Sock City, 150,000 people make a living together
Zhuji City’s Datang Street (formerly Datang Town) is the “Hometown of China’s Socks Industry” and the largest sock production base in the world. The annual output of Datang’s socks industry accounts for 70% of the country’s and 35% of the world’s. In other words, one out of every three pairs of socks in the world is produced in Datang.
The latest statistics show that there are more than 6,000 sock-related companies in Datang, with 150,000 local and all-over sock industry practitioners, and the per capita annual income exceeds 70,000 yuan.
Therefore, the phrase “when the sock machine of the Tang Dynasty sounds, a pair of socks is available in the world” not only expresses the “status of the world” of the sock industry of the Tang Dynasty, but also affects the livelihood of 150,000 people and warms their lives.
In Zhejiang Yingqier Knitting Co., Ltd., there is a pair of “post-90s” brothers, from Changfeng County, Anhui Province, both graduated from junior high school. Brother Fan Yuankai has been in the factory for five years, first making samples and then learning machine repair. Now he is able to repair all the company’s sock equipment on his own, with an annual income of about 100,000 yuan. After the Spring Festival in 2018, Fan Yuankai brought his younger brother Fan Hu to Zhuji to teach him pattern making. Fan Hu is diligent and studious, and has grown into a skilled sampler with a monthly income of more than 6,000 yuan.
Zhejiang Yingqier Knitting Co., Ltd. is a regulated sock enterprise in Datang Street. It has 220 employees, of which migrant workers account for more than 80%. “The company’s employees are relatively stable, with an average annual income of about 75,000 yuan per person.” said Wang Jinbin, the company’s administrative personnel manager.
In Datang Street, there are now 111,000 migrant workers chasing dreams. They come from Guangxi, Anhui, Henan, Jiangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan and other provinces and regions. Relatives bring relatives, and fellow villagers bring fellow villagers. The second hometown established his own life circle. After accumulating funds and experience, some migrant workers established their own small and micro enterprises and became an integral part of the Zhuji socks industry chain.
Pairs of socks from Datang not only provide livelihood, but also warm life.
Fashion sock art, designers show their talents
At the beginning of this year, Chen Ting, a student of Donghua University, won the China Design Red Star Award 2020 Socks Industry Competition Concept Award for her “Acupoint Health Multifunctional Home Socks”. Her design combines traditional Chinese medicine health care with socks, and has a high Use value and market application prospects.
In an interview with the media, Chen Ting said: “Next, I will work with the organizing committee to cooperate with local sock companies in Zhuji to transform designs into products.”
Industrial design is the starting point of the innovation chain, the source of the value chain, and the key to the development of high quality in the manufacturing industry. But industrial design requirestalents, and Datang Socks Industry needs to retain talents.
In order to make up for talent shortcomings and promote the upgrading of the sock industry, last year, the Zhuji Municipal Government joined hands with the “China Design Red Star Award” to hold a global design competition to build a broader platform for outstanding designers at home and abroad; this year, Zhuji established The Sock Industry Engineer Collaborative Innovation Center brings together talents and has currently cooperated with 35 universities and colleges and 10 industry associations at home and abroad. It has introduced sock art design, textile materials, intelligent equipment, and brand operations through three methods: full-time, flexible, and shared sharing. There are 158 engineers in 4 fields.
In order to better play the role of engineers, the Socks Industry Engineer Collaborative Innovation Center has also established an engineer talent pool and a corporate demand database, providing a package of services such as mature technology promotion, project incubation, site sharing, investment and financing, etc., to warm up engineers and make them more comfortable. They “will come” and “stay”.
In September this year, Professor Fan Yufang, a design expert from the Zhuji Sock Industry Engineer Collaborative Innovation Center and deputy director of the Industrial Design Institute of the China Academy of Art, and a group of young designers came to the “Feibai” Design Center (“Feibai” “Tiao” (a cutting-edge trendy socks brand jointly created by Zhejiang Kaishili Technology Co., Ltd. and the trendy socks research group of the China Academy of Art) explores the popular elements of socks for next spring and summer. They start from raw materials and materials, and conduct in-depth research on the impact of each thread and needle on the quality of socks, just to make every pair of warm socks.
Hundreds of billions of socks industry, “shared wealth” warms the future
Starting from “hand-cranking sock machines and selling baskets”, after more than 40 years of development, Datang Socks Industry has grown from a clustered block industry to a complete industrial chain integrating raw materials, sock machines, socks weaving, and markets. Modernindustrial cluster. Among them, digital reform has played an indispensable role in promoting the transition of the sock industry from “quantitative advantage” to “qualitative victory”.
In recent years, Zhuji has relied on the “Sock Art Shop”” construction, highlighting the upgrading of the entire industry chain, integrating productionintelligent, management informatization, market networking, and high-end products, realizing industrial power innovation and brand innovation , model renewal, successively cultivated a number of leading enterprises, created a number of digital factories, and transformed a number of innovative results.
Every day when he gets to work, Dai Tiejiang, general manager of Zhuji Yanai Silk Needle Textile Co., Ltd., turns on his computer to look at real-time data on the digital weaving workshop’s production capacity, machine status, order progress and other real-time data. In the past two years, the company has put into operation two digital weaving workshops, each with 100 integrated sock machines.
Synchronized with the installation of the sock machine is the smart factory network management system. Each sock machine has a number. Just select which sock machines, enter the pattern and output, and when the batch of orders is about to be completed, the computer control system will issue an early warning, solving the problem of data caused by manual counting and manual ordering. Pain points such as inaccuracy and waste of raw materials have been overcome to achieve efficient production of high-quality socks.
Yanai Silk Company invested 20 million yuan in sock machines, of which Zhuji City and Datang Subdistrict subsidies accounted for 45%. Driven by this warm-hearted policy, Datang Street has built a total of 34 digital workshops and 11 digital demonstration enterprises. It is expected that by the end of this year, an additional 20 digital workshops and 10 digital demonstration enterprises will be added.
While digitally empowering industries, this expo also proposes to be led by digitalization and greening, highlighting the three major characteristics of “high-quality exhibitions, all-round presentation, and quality services”, from intelligent equipment, new materials, Trendy designs and the entire industry chain of high-quality socks are displayed.
No matter when and where, only common prosperity can truly warm people’s hearts.
At the press conference, the organizer revealed a related piece of good news: the China Textile Industry Federation and the Zhuji Municipal People’s Government signed the “About Building High-Quality Development in Zhejiang” “Building a Demonstration Zone for Common Prosperity and Empowering Zhuji Datang Socks Industry to Iteratively Upgrade” Cooperation Agreement. During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, focusing on the theme of high-quality development of Datang Socks Industry, from “green carbon reduction”, “Intelligent manufacturing“, “industrial brain”, “human resources”, “modern commerce” and other aspects of cooperation to comprehensively strive to create new regional competitive advantages and strive to build a high-quality development and common prosperity demonstration zone in Zhejiang Zhuji examples empower and strengthen. Datang Socks Industry looks forward to a warm future of “shared wealth”.
