Gaoping, Nanchong: “Small silkworm cocoon” becomes a treasure for getting rich; silkworm mulberry weaves the “well-off dream”
In recent years, Huilong Town, Gaoping District, Nanchong City, Sichuan Province, has successfully developed the sericulture industry into an industry that promotes regional economic development and helps people increase their income and become rich through financial support, technical guidance, etc., in accordance with local conditions and scientific promotion. One of the important industries.
Huilong Town is a typical hilly mountainous area with suitable climate and soil, excellent drainage and irrigation conditions, and abundant rural labor resources. At the end of the last century, it became a key demonstration township of urban sericulture base. The sericulture industry accounts for 10% of the town’s total economic income. More than 15%, but due to the industry’s lack of economies of scale and its weak driving force for the agricultural economy, industrial development has fallen into a trough. Nowadays, the sericulture industry is booming again in Huilong. Why?
There is confidence in popularizing new technologies for sericulture
On October 11, at the sericulture industry base in Laochangya Village, Huilong Town, Gaoping District, more than 20 villagers were busy picking mulberry leaves. The drizzle of light rain could not stop the villagers’ enthusiasm for work. Baskets of fresh mulberry leaves are loaded onto the truck one after another and transported to the silkworm house.
In the large silkworm house in Laochangya Village, white and tender silkworms are nibbling on the tender green mulberry leaves with relish. “We have an intelligent co-breeding room for silkworms. Every process from eggs to larvae is carefully controlled by professional staff. The one we chose is ‘Jingsong Haoyue’. An autumn silkworm variety that is resistant to low temperatures and has high silk production,” said Yang Zewu, chairman of Nanchong Dawei Agriculture Co., Ltd.
In order to further promote the development of the sericulture industry in Gaoping District and help revitalize the industry, the Gaoping District Rural Revitalization Service Center also conducts regular visits to the center’s sericulture technicians, sericulture farmers in Shimenlou and other villages, and staff of Nanchong Dawei Modern Agriculture Co., Ltd. Large silkworm breeding technology training and study at sericulture bases in other places. It not only broadened the knowledge of sericulture farmers, but also gained a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of how to develop sericulture on a large scale. It also enhanced the confidence of sericulture farmers in developing sericulture.
“After more than half a year of construction, the first phase of our sericulture demonstration base has been officially put into use. In mid-September, we imported 200 pieces of silkworm paper. Now the first batch of silkworms has entered the feeding period. It will be ready in a few days. It is expected to produce 9 tons to 10 tons of cocoons, with an output value of about 500,000 yuan.” Yang Zewu said, “Such rapid development is due to the strong support of Huilong Town and relevant departments and the careful management of the villagers. Only then did our sericulture base plant mulberry, raise sericulture and put it into production within one year.”
Regarding the next step, Yang Zewu said with confidence: “We plan to build another 3,000 square meters of silkworm house in November, expand the mulberry garden by 1,000 acres, and carry out large-scale, high-standard, batch production next year to make it bigger and stronger. Sericulture industry.”
Adjust industrial structure to increase income and become rich
The development of the sericulture industry is the embodiment of specific ideas for the adjustment of the local agricultural industry structure. It not only extends the agricultural industry chain, improves the effect of land property rights, but also increases farmers’ employment income opportunities. , effectively promote rural revitalization through industrial development.
“My daily job is to pick mulberries outside and raise silkworms when I come back. My income is close to 100 yuan. In the past, I felt that I had no money to make when I was old. Now we can earn part of the salary at home, just raising silkworms. I am very satisfied with the income, such a good development! I am still willing to work here in the future.” Liu Xiubi, a villager in Laochangya Village, Huilong Town, told reporters that she used to grow some vegetables at home, but now she works at the sericulture base. The days are getting better day by day.
In recent years, through policy guidance and financial support, Huilong Town has developed 5,000 acres of sericulture industry base, introduced owners to engage in the sericulture industry, and encouraged surrounding villagers to engage in the sericulture industry, consolidating the results of poverty alleviation.
“Now relying on 5,000 acres of mulberry gardens and the second phase of standardized silkworm houses, we will also conduct useful explorations in extending the sericulture industry chain, carrying out comprehensive utilization, and developing special products, thereby driving sericulture from pure production to cultural tourism. type development, realize the upgrading of the sericulture industry, and open up more development paths for sericulture efficiency, sericulture farmers’ income, and rural revitalization.” said Zhang Yiping, director of the Huilong Town Agricultural Service Center.
