In the Xiaocan Intelligent Co-breeding Factory, the silkworm babies live in smart “nurseries”. Each co-bred workshop is equipped with an environmental intelligent control system that can collect and automatically process indoor environmental parameters online. “Compared with traditional silkworm co-breeding, the intelligent co-breeding factory can breed 10%-15% more silkworms, which is equivalent to increasing the cocoon production of silkworm farmers by 10%-15%.” Senior agronomist of Chongqing Sericulture Academy Wang Wenpin said.
“In the past, even if we raised silkworms as a family, we could only raise 5 or 6 silkworms per year at most, and the quality was unstable. We could only earn 10,000 to 20,000 yuan a year. Now we not only have automated and labor-saving silkworm machines, but also The science and technology commissioner came to our door to guide us on how to plant mulberry trees, control diseases and insect pests, etc. This year, our family raised a total of 75 silkworms, among which the purchase price of first-grade mulberry cocoons in late autumn reached 49 yuan/kg, and the annual income is expected to be more than 140,000 yuan.” Dai Song explain.
In order to mobilize the enthusiasm of farmers to plant mulberry and raise sericulture, the local government and leading sericulture enterprises have ensured a steady increase in farmers’ income through measures such as guaranteed minimum price purchase and bottom-line income insurance. It is expected that Qianjiang will purchase more than 80,000 tons of mulberry cocoons this year, and the average income of silkworm farmers will be more than 25,000 yuan.
As the sericulture industry flourishes, the Qianjiang silk industry also “breaks out of its cocoon and becomes a butterfly”, forming a collection of cocoon baking, silk reeling, silk weaving, Clothing is an integrated silk spinning industry chain, and the Silk Museum has become a “check-in place” for tourists.
