Dafeng: A seminar on the cultivation of new high-yielding and efficient cotton varieties was successfully held
On October 30-31, a seminar on the cultivation of new high-yielding and efficient cotton varieties in the Yangtze River Basin and the demonstration of high-quality, lightweight and efficient cotton technology were held in Dafeng District, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province.
At the seminar, the high-quality, high-yielding and efficient technology centered on the “three concentrations” of cotton budding, boll formation, and cotton tufting avoided the high incidence period of Verticillium wilt and major pests, and achieved full mechanization and wheat and cotton annual straw production. Returning to the fields reduces weight by more than 20%, which is suitable for large-scale promotion in the Yangtze River Basin.
The implementation of the “Cultivation of New High-yielding and Efficient Cotton Varieties in the Yangtze River Basin” project effectively solves the current cotton industry problems in the Yangtze River Basin, increases farmers’ income while assisting rural revitalization, and contributes wisdom to the cotton supply-side reform and promotes the upgrading of the cotton industry.
Before the meeting, more than 60 people including leading experts and members of the project group observed the display of new cotton varieties and high-quality, simple and efficient technology and the cotton machine picking site, and listened to the application of early-maturing varieties, straw return to the field, mechanical live broadcast, Demonstration and application of key technologies such as high density and low fertilizer, chemically controlled defoliation and ripening.
