The 2021 China-Africa Textile and Clothing Forum and China-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum were held
From November 5 to 7, 2021, the reporter learned that the 2021 China-Africa Textile and Clothing International Forum and China-Africa Cultural Exchange Forum, co-sponsored by Donghua University and Moi University in Kenya, were held online.
This forum has been held by China and Africa in turn since 2015, and it is now the seventh session. More than 20 universities and colleges from countries along the “Belt and Road” such as Moi University in Kenya and Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia, as well as more than 70 experts and scholars from the University of Oxford in the UK and domestic universities and institutions Participate in online interactions together.
Richardo Savigliano, representative of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, mentioned that the textile and garment industry is related to the well-being of human society, high-level employment, and increased foreign exchange earnings. etc., playing an important role in the social and economic development of Africa. In the post-epidemic era, countries should attach importance to the development of the textile and garment industry, create employment opportunities and further promote industrialization during the economic recovery process.
Ruth Sharo of the World Bank said that this forum coincides with the 26th United Nations Climate Conference, and the theme focus on green economy, sustainable development, inclusive economy and social equity is just in time. Participants promoted green technology development, scientific research innovation and technological transformation in textile and apparel and other fields through practical actions and efficient suggestions, hoping that universities and research institutions would contribute more wisdom and strength.
Regarding the future-oriented China-Africa community with a shared future, Yoro Diallo, former First Counselor of Mali in China, senior researcher at the Institute of African Studies at Zhejiang Normal University, and director of the African Museum, believes that Africa must learn from China’s success in poverty alleviation. Based on experience, strengthening poverty reduction cooperation occupies an important position in China-Africa cooperation and is also a key area. Africa should prioritize the development of poverty reduction infrastructure, public health systems and building capabilities.
This forum set up a main forum and six sub-forums around the theme of “Green Textile Technology and Sustainable Development”. Participating experts and scholars shared the development of cutting-edge textile science and technology and the construction of human destiny around textiles for emergency epidemic prevention, future textiles, green advanced textile technology, functional fiber materials, the theory and practice of a community with a shared future for mankind, the “Belt and Road” initiative dual cycle and sustainable development, etc. Community deep thinking. At the same time, the conference also selected 72 highquality papers and compiled them into a collection, which was published by Donghua University Press.
