Recently, the Human Resources Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Chinese Agricultural Society sent a letter to Southwest University, agreeing that the State Key Laboratory of Silkworm Genome Biology of Southwest University will take the lead in building the “Science and Technology Innovation China” “One Belt and One Road”International SericultureTechnological Innovation Institute.
Previously, in order to cooperate with the implementation of the national “Belt and Road” initiative and deepen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation with countries along the “Belt and Road”, the China Association for Science and Technology launched the construction of the “Belt and Road” international science and technology organization cooperation platform and entrusted the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs to The Resource Development Center and the Chinese Agricultural Society are responsible for the construction of the “Science and Technology Innovation in China” and the “Belt and Road” International Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Institute. In August this year, the Human Resources Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Chinese Agricultural Society jointly issued a document [Nongrenxue (Yanzi) Fa [2021] No. 1], which is aimed at relevant agricultural universities, scientific research institutes, leading agricultural industrialization enterprises and related Experts are solicited to lead the construction of the “Science and Technology China” and “One Belt and One Road” International Agricultural Science and Technology Industry (Regional, Professional) Innovation Institute.
In order to further leverage the scientific and technological leadership of Southwest University in the sericulture industry in the country and the world, the State Key Laboratory of Silkworm Genome Biology took an active role, contacting domestic and foreign cooperative units as soon as possible, and took the lead in applying for the “Science and Technology Innovation in China” and “One Belt and One Road” international sericulture projects. The International Sericulture Science and Technology Innovation Institute has received support and response from many parties. In the first batch, 28 Chinese units (including universities, research institutes, and enterprises) and 12 foreign units agreed to join the construction of the International Sericulture Science and Technology Innovation Institute. The president of the Innovation Institute is Professor Dai Fangyin, and there are 6 vice presidents, all from major sericulture science and technology units across the country. The Innovation Institute relies on 3 national-level platforms and nearly 40 ministerial-level and provincial-level platforms.
“Science and Technology China” and “One Belt and One Road” International Sericulture Science and Technology Innovation Institute will be based on my country’s sericulture science and technology innovation, talent and industry and other advantageous resources, and meet the industrial development needs of countries along the route. Make full use of private scientific and technological exchange channels, form an organism through organizational empowerment, further promote the “Belt and Road” sericulture scientific and technological innovation cooperation, export mature technologies, products and services in the field of sericulture in my country, and promote academic exchanges, scientific dissemination and popularization, talent flow, science and technology transfer, people-to-people bonds and other levels of cooperation, and integrate into the global innovation network. At the same time, cultivate scientific and technological innovation talents, jointly build a number of international sericulture science and technology cooperation and innovation platforms, form a number of major science and technology cooperation projects, transform and apply a number of advanced sericulture technology achievements, promote the development of sericulture in countries along the route, seek common interests and promote common prosperity , to enhance the ability of my country’s sericulture science and technology team to communicate and cooperate internationally and serve the country’s major needs.
Currently, there are 28 Chinese participating units in the Innovation Institute, including 24 public institutions and 4 corporate units. More outstanding domestic and foreign sericulture industry-related institutions are welcome to join.
There are currently 12 foreign participating units, including 4 countries including Vietnam, Thailand, Pakistan, and Mozambique. Subsequent countries are being contacted to join.
