Shaanxi Dali: 2021 Cotton Planting Cost Survey Report
In order to understand the cotton planting situation in Shaanxi in 2021, the Shaanxi Dali Monitoring Station conducted on-site research on 55.5 acres of cotton fields at multiple local monitoring points.
The survey results show that the cotton planting area in 2021 is 55.5 acres, and the seed cotton output is 174.83 kg/acre, a decrease of 59.03 kg/acre compared with 2020. A local cotton farmer said that the total cost of cotton planting this year was 1,155.95 yuan/mu, a decrease of 97.34 yuan/mu compared with last year. Among them, the cost of planting materials is 412.36 yuan/mu (including: cotton seeds, mulch, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, water, and electricity charges), an increase of 20.62 yuan/mu compared with last year; the total labor cost is 428.59 yuan/mu (field management fees, irrigation labor costs, picking up Flower labor costs) decreased by 98.12 yuan/mu compared with last year; mechanical operation costs were 102.62 yuan/mu (field management fees, irrigation power fees,) increased by 8.56 yuan/mu compared with last year (mostly small plot planting, mainly field management labor costs) . Other costs are 212.39 yuan per mu (seedling planting, pruning, work management, etc.), a decrease of 28.38 yuan/mu compared with last year.
Analyzing the reasons for the decrease in planting costs this year compared with last year, firstly, cotton is not the main local cash crop, and cotton seeds are mainly kept for self-sufficiency; secondly, labor costs have been reduced, mainly because the emphasis on cotton crops has been reduced and the number of management times has been reduced. .
Based on the current average purchase price of local seed cotton of 9.50 yuan/kg (an increase of 2.90 yuan/kg compared with last year’s purchase price) and the average seed cotton output per mu of 174.83 kg, the gross income is 1,661 yuan/mu, minus the total cost of 1,156 yuan/mu. , the profit is 505 yuan/mu, which is lagging behind other economic crops (watermelon, apple, winter jujube, etc.). However, local cotton farmers still have the habit of planting (self-produced, sold and used) cotton every year, mostly intercropping fruit cotton and melon cotton.
