Look at cotton through textiles and strictly control the quality of imported cotton
On the morning of December 9, Wang Jian, general manager of the International Business Department of the National Cotton Trading Market, held a meeting for the Import cotton trade professional advanced training class (first phase) The students systematically sorted out China’s main cotton importing countries and their characteristics, and detailed their knowledge of cotton characteristics, picking, processing, and management in each major cotton-producing country.
Wang Jian pointed out that in the first three quarters of 2021, China’s cotton imports basically showed a tripartite trend, namely US cotton, Brazilian cotton and Indian cotton. Among them, the four major cotton areas of the United States are widely distributed in a belt shape, with a high degree of mechanization of picking and uniform cotton fiber properties. In addition, the United States Department of Agriculture has established relatively complete inspection standards and laboratories to facilitate the statistics of cotton data. Textile mills that use U.S. cotton may consider appropriately raising the standards for horse value selection to improve productionquality.
Judging from other varieties, the quality of Brazilian cotton has gradually improved in recent years, and the inspection system has become increasingly complete. However, the current shortage of transportation capacity is a problem faced by Brazilian cottonexport that cannot be ignored. This is a big problem that is not expected to be solved in the short term. Regarding the use of Brazilian cotton in China, Teacher Wang mentioned that there are differences in the testing standards of cotton short staple rate between China and Brazil, which is crucial to the impact of cotton allocation by textile mills. Compared with varieties from some countries, Indian cotton has generally good cost performance. India’s minimum purchase price (MSP) policy for seed cotton has, on the one hand, broadened its domestic seed cotton purchase channels, and on the other hand, protected the interests of cotton farmers. Finally, Teacher Wang gave detailed explanations to the students about Australian cotton, West African cotton, Sudanese cotton and Mexican cotton.
