Xinjiang has built nearly 20,000 5G base stations, and cotton production has tasted the benefits
It was learned from the Xinjiang Communications Administration that since the implementation of 5G base station construction in 2019, Xinjiang has built 19,343 5G base stations with a total investment of 1.98 billion yuan, providing a development foundation for local 5G network applications.
Since the beginning of this year, Xinjiang has completed the construction of 12,835 5G base stations, achieving continuous outdoor 5G coverage in the main urban areas of all county-level administrative regions, and completing basic 5G coverage in the main areas of 885 township-level administrative regions.
Chen Minhong, a cotton farmer in Yuli County, Xinjiang, tasted the benefits brought by the application of 5G technology this year. After the introduction of intelligent equipment into Chen Minhong’s family’s more than 1,000 acres of cotton fields, everything from farming, sowing, fertilizing, management to picking has become intelligent. The cotton farmer said: “In the past, no matter how intensively we cultivated, the cotton yield per mu was as high as 350 kilograms. Now, relying on 5G technology, the yield per mu has exceeded 400 kilograms.”
In order to promote and standardize the construction and application of 5G networks in Xinjiang and support high-quality economic and social development, in February this year, the “Regulations on Promoting the Construction and Development of 5G Networks in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region” were implemented . The “Regulations” require relevant government departments at or above the county level to optimize the approval process for 5G network facility construction, achieve “one-window acceptance” and “one-stop processing” to improve approval efficiency.
In addition, the Autonomous Region 5G Network Construction and Development Leading Group Office has formed a “seven-step method” closed loop in 5G construction of “policy introduction – list management – benchmarking notification – regular supervision – high-level promotion – implementation – assessment and evaluation” The work process effectively solves 5G network construction problems such as difficulty in site entry, difficulty in site selection, and difficulty in coordination. At the same time, we will promote the inclusion of communication infrastructure construction approval into the work of local government service halls.
